Catharina Ahlén – My Story
Medium format landscape photographer | Nordic light chaser | Entrepreneur at heart
I’m drawn to the landscapes of the North — the raw coastlines, the windswept highlands, the quiet stillness that lives between trees and time. These are the places where I find focus, far from noise and obligation.
My photography is shaped by solitude. Out in the wild, with the soft hum of wind and the rhythm of changing weather, I find a different kind of presence. It’s not just what I see, but what I feel — and that’s what I try to translate into each image.
I work primarily with the Fujifilm GFX medium format system, seeking depth and tonal subtlety that mirror the mood of the Nordic landscape. For me, it’s never about chasing dramatic light or epic views. It’s about the quiet tension of a valley at dusk, the softness of a snowfall in the taiga, the slow unfolding of seasons across the land.
Though I live a fast-paced life as a successful entrepreneur, nature is where I reset. The wilderness has become my counterbalance — a place where I trade structure for intuition, and strategy for stillness.
This practice isn’t just photography. It’s a conversation with the land. Every trip, every exposure, is a way to listen more deeply — to let the landscape speak on its own terms.
My work is available as limited fine art prints, crafted with care using archival materials. If you’d like to follow along, I occasionally share behind-the-scenes insights, field notes, and workshop offerings through my mailing list.
